Drowned in the loneliness
Of this island
Sinking in the ocean
Of hunger and wounds
Smelling the twilight
Words tangle
Of this island
Sinking in the ocean
Of hunger and wounds
Smelling the twilight
Words tangle
It’s departure time
Tears fly
and are trapped
in the circling of our hearts
All that noise is deaf
The beat on our chests
break the silence
the mess
Eyes do the talking
Hoping not to regret
it's never too late
It’s departure time.
And the roads were always there
for us to be walked.
The guitar was always there
for us to be walked.
The guitar was always there
for us to be played
Piles of books
could’ve been read
Instead, we took the shortcuts
we sang out of tune
and we just read
Piles of books
could’ve been read
Instead, we took the shortcuts
we sang out of tune
and we just read
the summaries.
And now
it's getting too late. And now...
It is departure time.

really love that part...and it says just enough there to put us right in it...the repetition of departure time is strong...and i love that familiarity of guitar, paths and books....really evocative piece dulce...
I hate "goodbys"--grin!
Come to think of it...death is not goodbye. It is more like "see ya layer, gator!"
Dulce you poems are always "Hello!"
And you mention eyes which speak.
Even mutes speak poetry through those windows'
OKAY

Love you guys"
Thanks for ALWAYS being here with me no matter what!
Enjoyed this so much. I’m going to slow down and take it all in.
I lived this poem in an airport in Seattle, 1999. All that was missing was her voice saying "my plane's ready." Bittersweet and poignant and gorgeous. Loved it.
I like the thought that the guitar is always there waiting.
I was singing something today about never saying goodbye, but I forget what. Funny how song bits and poems drift in and out like the tides at sea.
beautiful poem.

Yay, I'm back in Dulce land, whooohooo.

Dulce, this poem is amazing. It spoke volumes to me. The words, the rhythms, the cadence and the poignant thoughts within ... mmmm ... off to read it again ... and again!

I wouldnt have chosen better words for describing that situation.
Your poetry is always clear, but your words are like the description of a dream.
Lot of kisses Dulce!
You poor baby. CB feeling sads for you.
Departure time not
Rapture time.
Parting lovers have not souls transported into constant delights, thrills, heavenly moments.
Attachment made
in a few days
may take years to sever...
and possibly, maybe, never!
Live and love. That borrowed phrase--we never tire. You are good and true friend.
Sorry our communication has ebbed.
Maybe one other day.
Thank you, Thank you so much guys!!!
:-)
