Changing Chances

Eventually

He changed my face for

A painting

Then for my place…

He came to find in me

All that

He already had in himself

Full of expectations

Hope

Love and more love

Some new peace

By my shores…

Insane blessed sanity

He came with a heavy suitcase

Full of the wisest gifts

To me

And took back

Heavier ones

To him

No souvenirs

He …

He left

Full of impressions

Memories to be told

To those

He most adores

Sought after me

Seeking after him

Eventually

He left

In me

A new face

A new painting

A new vision of my place

Full of expectations

Hope

Love and more love

We both changed

Without changing.

I love the line breaks. Usually short lines make a poem run fast, but these force the reader to really slow down and ponder your meaning.

Love the line "insane blessed sanity". Solid work.

I guess that is one aspect of love taking and leaving. But the fact that there was a gain is worth the love.

that my dear is a priceless piece of poetry

Thanks for sharing this masterpiece with One Shot

Some real wisdom in this one. We look to find in others what we already possess within ourselves...if only we could find it there!

There is always give and take, but there is also always a core, unchanged. Interesting and beautiful.

Ah!! I loved this shot mi querida amiga!
The give-take situation in which someone is in disadvantage is very well described in here...

"Changed without changing" is that possible? I used to think but, see, you´ve now cleared my mind. :)

Enjoy the sound of your poem; has a nice pace to it, and the lines strike me as heartfelt. Nice One Shot!

Simplistic beauty, but touching and moving. There's a soft passion. A fire that causes each person to grow individually, then grow apart. I particularly liked the ending. It did not end in sadness, but hope for a new future. Well done!

beautiful piece of just how we change without changing each other, each growing in the shadow of the other - making one greater than the two parts - beautifully executed, dear dulce!

We really do have an intense impact on our life partner, even if all we're doing is be together.

Love and more love -- this line makes me smile.

"sought after me/seeking after him"

I liked that. I liked the sound. And the turn of it, the circle of their desire.

Relating to one another shows us who we are and who we are becoming. Great capture of this mystery.

I saw this as a love that surpasses the human dimension...or at very least, comes from the divine. Beautiful, Dulce.

Everyone that comes into our lives leave some sort of impact...They change us in some way, but not in totality...The feelings of love to be remembered...All of this makes us grow into what we are to be...But the growing never stops...

Dulce, this spoke to me deeply...Because eventho someone is in our lives...It doesnt mean they will be there forever...But we learn from each experience...I loved the flow of these words...Like the words are jumping off of the page telling a story...Your story...Our story...

I love how you poetically describe what we all call "having baggage" in relationships, and I love how you describe them as gifts. Beautiful poem i can relate to on many levels.

Dear Sweetest,

May I dare say he did not bring a heavy suitcase, but a real treasure.
No souveniers, nor jewels, better than that, LOVE!

Taking- giving.
Nothing might change much. But for sure that treasure you’ll keep for life!
:-)
Am I right?

I enjoyed this. I think being in a relationship which changes you because you want it to is great. It's the relationship that you feel you need to change yourslef to be in which brings difficulties.

steveroni said...

Dulce, this is probably your masterpiece. And...we NEVER know what is in the large plan--God's Plan

Sam is correct, some treasures are forever, to never be forgotten, squandered, wasted.

FWI, I have just blogged my final posting. As much as this is difficult, it IS necessary, for me to gain back some of the peaceful spirituality I'm barely able to recall.

I will DEFINITELY miss the blogs, reading, commenting, and yours also--which was special to me.

PEACE!
