You Almost Convinced Me...

.-
.
.
Experts are expert on
Expecting you to be
Yourself.
And in order for you to achieve this
A few steps must go ahead
So they say…

Thought awareness:
the first step in the process
of managing negative thoughts,
as you cannot manage thoughts
you are unaware of.

Positive thinking:
used to create positive affirmations
that you can use
to counter negative thoughts.
These affirmations neutralize
negative thoughts
and help to build your self confidence
It is also used to find the opportunities
that are often present,
to some degree,
in a difficult situation.

...The (other) first step
in changing our attitudes
is to change
our inner conversations.
Praise yourself and others.
Dream of success.
Be enthusiastic.
Develop a strategy
for dealing with problems.
Learn to relax.
Enjoy successes.
Be honest with yourself.
Be courageous.
Change and improve each day
Do your best and don't look back.
See learning and change
as opportunities.
Try new things
Consider several options.
Meet new people.
Ask lots of questions.
Keep track of your mental
and physical health.
Be optimistic.
Remember,
you are what you think,
you feel what you want.

Thought Awareness
helps you to understand
the negative thinking,
unpleasant memories
and misinterpretation of situations
that may interfere with your performance
and damage your self-confidence.
Write these affirmations
down on a worksheet
so that you can use them
when you need them.

We are in control,
whether we know it or not.
We can be positive or negative,
enthusiastic or dull,
active or passive.
Mister Lincoln already said it:
Most folks are about as happy as they
make up their minds to be.
And ,
of course-
And, yet
After all these musts
You expect me
To be
MYSELF…?

so true - like how you write about taking over responsibility for our lives. there can be tough times but it's up to us on how we respond to them

Dulce of course the experts are always EVERYWHERE telling us the results of their research--even without asking me of this opinion.

So, for some lengthy time now, I am being myself--funny thing, maybe I'm crazy--but even it seems 'good' between God and me. (Holy Moly, Batman!)

So I am here to write that a perfect life as described--PROSCRIBED?--for me by others could be a very BORING existence.

Even some of the greatest saints were guilty of some of the greatest 'SINS'--and the reading of their lives can be--IS--rather exciting stuff!

So, at long last, I am me, having practiced for many years to please all the rest.

BTW, with everything you wrote here I am familiar, hearing DAILY
the chantings of what, how, who, when, where (even WHY!) I should behave this way or that.

Congratulations on a good blog-write, which MANY can see in their own lives. Why do do we not all be boringly PERPHEKT? Hmmmmm?

Luv Ya, Canary!

Dulce, I apolog....Ooooops! LOL!

as someone who hates rules, i really liked your poem. I hate those who come and tell me that writing has 'rules' and that to write 'good' i should "learn' them. I am very calm, as a person, but when someone tells me this, well, i can get rude. I just find it so infuriating! If i had to set in front of a keyboard, with a bunch of rules in my head, they'll just totally obstruct the flow of words. I feel that rules make everything mechanical.... and I love things to flow

When it comes to living life... there should be no rules. We make our own rules. If we don't, we lose ourselves. And that means we are unhappy... miserable... lost. I actually love affirmations, though. I love to give myself an affirmation for each day. But, I create my own affirmations. No one can... or should... tell me what I can or can't think or do.

Your words flowed from your soul, Dulce. And I felt every word in my soul. And that is how our lives should be, too. We have to be true to ourselves first. We have to be able to follow how we feel. If we can't do that, then forget the rest.

I loved the honesty you expressed... and the beautiful words.

Warm hugs,
Nevine

To me life is trial and error. Sooner or later we find what is good and right for us (or not) and that is OK too.

I can only do the best I can with what I have.

It is the “of course” part that is most important. But you already know that. The rest I’ve heard before too.
Very good.

This is all so true... a lot of advice out there is about faking until you make it.. How could you be yourself after faking

"change

I love those words.

"Change and improve each day"
I am finding the joy in this.

This piece is marvelous!!!
Thank you.

I hear ya! Be this, be that, then you will be happy. Do this, do that, then you will be good enough. You can get so much advice on how to live your life, and it is us that keep seeking outward for that advice. Maybe looking for that quick fix or the ANSWER to what ails us. I even write it down so I can remember how I should be, so I can find my happiness.
BUT, you are so right...and you want me to be myself? Thanks for the insight that we don't need all this advice from "experts", what we need is to listen to our own inner teacher. What feels right, feels right. We know.

Good stuff! And keep being you!

xo

I have often thought along these lines dear Dulce but would not have been able to express as explicitly as you! Quite honest thoughts here. As Nevine mentioned, no one can live by rules. Of course there are people who are trained to live like that. But I cannot do that. And why should I. I believe in reading the rules but playing by instincts. No rules are such that they can be uniform for everyone!

Quite practical words of wisdom, here.

Joy always,
Susan

Sweet Dulce:

I had to ponder this one long and hard and then came back to re-read it, true there is much you said that has been said before, although you put it together in a most beautiful style --- the one quote that kept coming up for me was this:
Learn to... be what you are, and learn to resign with a good grace all that you are not. ~Henri Frederic Amiel

Cheers,
Joanny

love your new banner so sweet and pretty.
