That One Past

That past
Might seem
A torment
On my back.
Yet, a past
All men have
On their track.
Never been alone
Lonely quite often,
Perhaps too long…
That past
At times
Brings back guilt
Others, this subtle,
Weird relief,
For I’ve been one
And a hundred.
I’ve played
So many games,
Hunted a few
Naïve preys…
Now it’s just time
To detain
And obtain
A deserved gift…
From the seeds
I’ve settled,
And take joy in this,
My present.

I add my wishes for Liam a Happy birthday.

And Dulce, you are so 'right on' in live in the present moment. Today is really all I have, actually even less, as you said, the present. For it is ALWAYS the PRESENT.

Enjoy whatever is sent your way, savor it, love it...but carefully.

God loves you, and I do too!

Oh yes, "and take joy in this, My present"...living in the moment, for the moment. This rings so true!

Happy birthday to Liam, I told him I hope Amy pops round.
To live in the present is good sentiment indeed and beautifully expressed hun.

wonderful poem, I am one who is learning,to let the past stay in the past, it creeps up on me at times, testing me. I know it is better to forgive, and let the past stay in the past or it can eat ONE up, slowly . Love the present and treasure each moment.

I will pop over to your friends site and wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
lovely tribute.

Goodmorning smiles and hugs from me you sweet Dulce

So in my thoughts today. Reliving those precious moments touring our city's aquarium hand in hand with my five year old great-granddaughter. Her giggle, her smile, her complete
innocence and awe. So completely lost in the moment diving and playing with the otters.
I pray each morning for a child like innocence for this day.
Your poems are such an inspiration, thanks.

"And that island.. are you sure that's its name?
I tell you because I live on an island you know?
... and it's very temptating!"

I called it Bali Hai, because Dulce:

#1 It's on the other side of the world from you Island

#2 I do not know how to spell Gran Canaria (Ooooops!)

#3 I get "temptated" too easily...

know what I mean,
Little Jelly Bean???

LOVE and PEACE to you, Dulce

That picture you have on your post today is a masterpiece of matching words with graphic.

Dear Liam,
Mr Effort and Ms Pleasure do not get on well with each other as far as my writing poetry is concerned.
If writing involved an effort of any kind, I'd simply not do it!

The only effort here, I must admit, was to find that photo which to me so well describes what I mean through my words>>>>>> especially written to you. Yet, that effort involved a pleasure as well…

Thanks my friends for your SO very beautiful comments to LIAM and myself!

Love and Sweeter Hugs

PS Steve Sweetie, you'll always be welcome to visit my island... ;)

I know what you mean about the picture, Dulce. Sometimes I will have a nice completed poem and then drive myself bonkers trying to find the perfect picture to go with it!
