Being Mother

So that you understand

Let me explain…

This should be easy

But it’s not.

Just close your eyes for a second

And try to listen to your breath

Loving you is like

That

That essential part of life

Life itself…

So that you understand

How much I love you

Have a visit

If you can

In your memory

And try to remember

Every second

Every scene

Of our together history

This should be easy

But it’s not

Just try

To translate

Or interpret

With your clean and loving heart

With your already wise vocabulary

That you were born

From the best of my heart and soul

To keep you

Look after you

Protect you

You were born only to be loved

A love which no words…

But maybe if you close your eyes…

That’s why I keep myself alive

Why against the whole world I fight

To love you

To keep you

Protect you

Because am mum

And you are my one

My only true love

My son.

This is infinitely beautiful, Dulce. Our mother's truly are the constants of our lives, always there for us, their love: timeless and unconditional. I loved the sentiment of our breath being the essence of life, and that that essence is jut like a mother's love. Such a wonderful idea, brilliantly expressed. This is a marvellous poem.

It was simple, yet hard to completely perceive. You managed to express such a great thing as mother's love by your infinitely sweet yet deep words. I also loved the similes.

I shall never forget what my blind father typed to me many years ago:

"You are no longer my son.
Your mother still may claim you.
For, a mother's love is forever.
It never goes away."

I forget what I did, but it was not good.

Dulce, this is really "you" speaking with words so true.
I'm sure son loves you as well.

No, I was never a "mother" but sometimes I think that maybe God is....
Take care.

Beautiful...the joy of becoming a mom and the stress of sleepless nights with a new born, the day to day ordinary and the trepidation of having a teenager and as adults doing their own thing, and all those moments in between, is an indelible tattoo on the soul.

Like it!
I'm not a mother, as everyone can imagine...not even a father!
But I know how infinite her love is, 'cause I feel the same about her.
Love u, mummy! And thanks, Dulce, for moving us. I'm very lucky, and maybe I must get more time her.
Hugs,
Toni MM

How beautifully put:

That’s why I keep myself alive
Why against the whole world I fight

Life changes when you become a mother. No decision is ever as simple as it used to be.

Happy mother's day Dulce

how beautiful, your words reaching far into my heart and giving what i can't verbalize, flight! you are extraordinary, dulce, such a natural-born poet and i love coming by here!

Hey Sweeter poet-Peep, you received a new header for Mother's Day--and it is (IMO) a GREAT improvement! Other header stretched out sideways too far. Also I just now noticed how similar in color are our blogs now. Did you just change that also?

If you are unhappy about that, I can change. Just kidding, I'm sure you do not care.

See ya around.
Take care.

I have no lucky to have my mother close, but I miss her every day... but I have the greatest treasure, my daugther, and of course I love her more than anyone else in the world.

Dulce, I can say nothing, because I have no words to explain the beauty of your poem.

Kisses!!!

Dulce, that is the sweetest sweetest sweetest piece of love I have read! It's so from your heart, and I'll bet your son is one lucky boy. No. I know he is. A belated Happy Mother's Day to you. While you and your son were celebrating that, me and my hubby were celebrating our 7th anniversary. I have been away... for that. Lovely to read your lovely thoughts about your most loved one, Sweetest!
