Unique

Lovers, Acrylic/ Canvas by Leslie Marcus

..

You’ve raised the level

In such a way

I don’t think anyone

That I might meet

So high will ever reach...

You’ve taught me how

To call a spade a spade

No double edged complements...

You’ve shown me the outlines

Of mountains and words

And the horizon is not the end any more.

When we say that statement

We really mean it

And there are no limits

Nor dot, dot, dot…

I do not need to get dolled up

To amaze you

You accept me

With my ups and downs

‘Cause you love me

Just for the one I am.

and that is the way it should be, seldom found though. It is difficult to find someone who loves us for who we are

Ooops.
I do not need to get dolled up...
nope, me neither, and it's a good thing, considering I am draped in fleece at the moment.
I gotta be me!

What is true love if not accepting somebody for who they truly, truly are...that is the very beauty of love. A romantic and moving poem, dearest Dulce :)

Dulce:

ditto to Brian's comment on the header, you are a very pretty lady,,,

Your poem today is thought provoking for too often we have illusions and projections about the "lover" we are in love with, and you have so clearly express this and know what you are looking for in a man.

I love Marilyn Monroe for her wit and wisdom here is a quote I will leave you with today:
"I've never fooled anyone. I've let people fool themselves. They didn't bother to find out who and what I was. Instead they would invent a character for me. I wouldn't argue with them. They were obviously loving somebody I wasn't."
cheers,
Joanny

I do not need to get dolled up but I do that eyeshadow for me...I just love it.

This poem, lovely Dulce, was so wonderful. I haven't been looking in a very long time but I wouldn't mind chancing on a man of the qualities you spoke of in your wonderful poetry.

I agree with Brian, this header is so gorgeous...you, like the best vintages of wine, get better and better as the years go by.

There are teachers, and there are students. There is no line which separates, since the traffic is supposedly driving to the same goal.

Being happy and at peace seem to result from the combination of receptiveness and acceptance, dot, dot, dot...as learning and teaching are also often 'one'.
