On Sweetness & Madness

Before I’m sent to a madhouse,
I must enjoy my madness.

Before another man fills me up
with bitterness and deceitfulness
,

I’ll make the best
of all this sweetness
which sprouts everywhere
.

Before joy becomes corruptness,
let’s have more
of that freeness,

that frankness,
that absurdness.

Before agedness seizes me all over,
I promise to commit myself to yet

more girlishness,
more laziness,
more sexiness…

Before I am overcome
by any type of dullness,

I’ll keep on
with my drunkenness,
my positiveness,
my sublimeness…

Before it’s too late,
and that might be right tomorrow,

I’m going to lean on
more cheerfulness,
wiseness,

uniqueness,
absoluteness.

Hummm...

....This eagerness

Of mine…

Dulce, as I say often--actually Shakespeare wrote it better--"...a gift is twice blest. By him who gives, and him who receives..."

And so, you have all these gifts from your Higher Power to use now, before (in 40 years) you will think it is too late. NOTE: "you will think"...

PEACE
LOVE

I loved this! So true that life is different when we aren't distracted by someone else. I hope you enjoy every single moment (pun intended!) :)

A stark painting of reality in words. I would like to think aloud: Is it the way we see it or take things as they are ought to be taken.

All said and done, I loved this reflection in verse.

Dulce, I wish that you enjoy everything as it is meant to be, always.

Big hugs and lots of love,
Susan

I often felt this way in early rapture, however since I wasn't healthy in relationships I never excaped the 'madness" no matter how hard I tried.......

Amen to that. Embrace the madness and the childish joy within. Who wants to be like those sane serious grown-ups anyway? They don't have any fun.

What beautiful and wise words, Dulce! We must seize life, and all that life is...live it to the fullest, embrace our emotions. Your wonderful lyricism and synergy are quite a delight :)

It reminds me of the song by Helen Reddy "I am woman"

you go girl - be all of who you are!!!

Nicely said for One Shot

I loved it! It seemed raw, naked -- meaning never thrown in the pot of revision. Or at least not really cooked but more like stunned. true?

what a message, Chica!!! Live today, the hell with tomorrow, I mean...not the hell with it but you know what I mean or what you mean.
Great poem!!!

Never liked poetry but I am beginning to love it.

I like this, although “before” only works in the conversation as it has already past.

Dulce,

You do embody all of those beautiful traits, you have beautiful thoughts and a beautiful mind that is over flowing,,,, lets hope this one doesn't betray you but continues to flow with your sweetness..

Exquisite poem.

There certainly is freedom in enjoying our time right now as it is. So often we skip by those moments and only get pulled into the "madness" and think that is all there is. We just need to open up to all the sweetness that surrounds us.
