Night Rooster

Too bright the night
For my neighbor rooster
.
Kept crowing
On the hour

All night long

Sister Moon
He had confused
With brother Sun

Waking me up

Making me smile…

Before I moved to the country I thought roosters only crowed at dawn--now I know they crow whenever they happen to feel like it, particularly at moments of aggression or confusion.Your poem captures the rooster's conflicted state of mind perfectly. I think a lot of humans tend to mix up night and day sometimes. too.;_)

great point.. I definitely think humans confuse day and night as well. but the funny thing to me about this is just the utter confusion of the little rooster

well...

I should have got furious with it-for waking me up once and again, could have closed the window completely- ...
but for some reason I liked to hear it. It broke the silence of the night,
which was indeed so bright with the last full moon...
I am lucky I live in a place where I can hear a rooster... SO, no matter when he decides to crow...

THANKS my dear friends for your smiles back
:)

Hey, I LIKE! "Short and sweet--is hard to beat." (My father used to day that about politician speeches, and visits by relatives...)

Sometimes, when a fox breaks into a chicken coup, noise from the roosters will scare it away. True, although I never did watch--grin!

Sort of like when a guy finds himself in a ladies' rest room by mistake--THAT visit doesn't last very long..be sure of THAT!

his comment is longer than the blog. But...some Peeps never change.

This post about the crowing shows you as you really are: footloose, and fancy free. Not all so serious EVERY day. Good!

Still, the favorite Poet in my book, even with only 3 dimensions.
The 4th and 5th D's are coming! Watch out! Listen for the rooster!

the moon here hovered rich and round - full pregnant with mid-winter light. she was still there this morning. but the evening was blessedly silent. steven

Dulce

I can relate to this sweet poem, I miss my neighbors rooster crowing, apparently the other neighbor did not like it -- so the rooster is gone..and I know not where.

That's really cute and imaginative. Rooster is confused by the moon. So am I, sometimes!

Congratulations on being featured at Poets United.
