So That’s Love

Fate is capricious

In a way you can’t recall

While you remind past lies

Quite that much.

Way back to think of the ones

Why, if any of them was there to share

Bad luck, never get the chance

To meet your one

This night…

So full of night sounds

Just a mile away

Yet, he never drives your way

Fate is capricious

And so disappointing

Fed up with prays

The universe for you chose

Which had to be your rose

Still you think of that man

While the melody of those crickets

Reminds you-

It was long ago all over

So why should they

The stars that shine up

Show no one by your side

Because if you do not possess

You have not love.

Dulce- OK, first time I've ever heard of fate being capricious but love the twist. But even in seperation, does not love remain? curious, this. Nice delivery and flow. ~rick

Dulce, my favorite part, I have to admit, is the last quatrain. There is a beautiful rhythm to it, and it sings with a voice of its own. Very nice!

So sad, so strange... I didn't get the last quatrain and I completely disagree with it. I have a 100% passionate marriage and I don't possess my husband. I have three wonderful children and I do not possess them. No, love is no possession. Your love is not your property. He is yours because he freely wants to. And that's the best. I'm not writing this to convince you, but just to help you, dear Dulce, because I love you and I want you to find true love. Kisses :)

Unlike Sylvia, whose interesting comments I quite enjoy reading, I agree utterly with what you have written here, dear Dulce. This one went straight to my heart.

PS--to be clear, I agree that love is not possession, as in owning a vacuum cleaner. But it IS possession in terms of the person BEING THERE, and belonging to each other. That's my little opinion. I'll hush up now!

Sweet Dulce, such interesting, thoughtful comments, I am glad I read them before this:

The picture is stated in the last four lines (quatrain! I LOVE that word from Nevine!)...

I must ask here myself the question, "How can I love the flower which I've never seen, never touched (Oooh, "don't touch the flowers!"), never smelled of its fragrance?

Answer: I believe it's possible. That word "possess" seems to give a problem...to me possession means here,

"to have the benefit of..to enjoy, have, hold."

The message then is to love, love, LOVE, OK? Dulce?

I read it differently than the others. I think you're saying if you do not possess, meaning he is not currently in your life, then you do not have love...but, BUT you do because you hold it in your heart and it grows and expands and as you love whomever is in your world; your son, relatives, friends, lovers, kindred spirits, as you do this and you do it so selflessly... IT WILL ALL BE RETURNED TO YOU as it is now from those you love, but also in the form of HIM...(the gift)...I believe that!

know this love~

Creo que hablas de que sigue estando el amor hacia alguien que no está.
El amor Es y no depende de tiempo ni de espacio.
Buen domingo bonita!!

But if you possess then you have not love but a possession.

love love love, can be maddening.. it can make us lose control, want to control, possess, I know I do not want to be thought of as a possession, but I love when my heart shows me, how he possessed mine.

The old saying goes" “If you love someone, let them go. If they return to you, it was meant to be. If they don’t, their love was never yours to begin with…”
