These goddesses have issues
They spin around in circles
In a whirlwind
They get the escape
But are condemned
To go back where that
Zeus cursed
By the sea
Thinking of her Adonis
So beloved
And her dull husband
Trying not to compare
Yet that she cannot help
Now and then
Aphrodite dances
To the waves
Tilting her long hair
To the wind in love
To herself
Such broad desire
His image appears
To say how much
He needs to kiss
Her grace
Fed up with
Such perfection
Love spread
Allure shared
But without
His beauty, his flesh
Her love, her comeliness
All the rest only
The big Ocean
Can reflect.

Very nice one bringing in the Greek Gods to dance to your tune.
Dulce, this is outstanding!
...and AHA! I GET it! The Goddess can tear her body away from him but not her thoughts. When she stands at ocean's edge, there he is--but oh! so far away.
Love, love is more powerful than the waves of the sea or the wind which pushes them toward. Desire is but love unfulfilled. (Such as God desires us?)
She sees a picture of him longing to be close with her as one.
The last stanza is the best I think. The perfection which can exist at a distance, remains perfect and remains far away. "The big ocean reflects"...oh my how powerful that is!
And yet--is not the ocean a part also of us, and we of those great waters certainly a piece of? Are we all not One, everything and everybody? Is not one great prayer being heard by the Creator, the pleading of all creatures to be dissolved into that awesome--unintelligible Oneness, the very reflection of God Himself?
Maybe I read way too much in these poems??? --grin!
Peace and Love, Peep
ah! these goddesses of you. Which one is you? Could you say? i have to read a bit about them to find out why your writing such beautiful poems. Sorry for keeping anonymous. Maybe some day...
Thank you Eckan for your smart comment.
Steve dear! Well this is no doubt A COMMENT!!!It's even better than the poem itself! If I ever published a book of poems and I needed a reviewer, guess whom I'd call for!!!
Thanks a lot for such lovely observations
And for Anonymous... well I'd be pleased to answer that, but there is a tendency in me not to answer anonymous questions. Sorry!
*plops down next to Dulce, handing her one mug of steaming coffee, and keeping one for myself*
Good morning, Dear One! :-)
I am loving this series on the Goddesses that you are doing, and doing so well! I especially like the opening lines of the first and last stanzas; these goddesses have issues, and fed up with such beauty. Only you would come up with those, I think! Wonderful, as is your habit! ;-)
And see? This admirer of yours puts her name lol.
And you say you smile when you read my comments!!! Well imagine me every time I read yours, Shay Dear!
You are a LOVE!
Sweet hugs
Wonderful poem Dulce!
Wonderfully captured!
Have a woonderful day!

dancing goddesses with long hair alongside waves... always wanted to be one of those. now, maybe not...
Goddesses may have more problems than all of us.
Your Goddess poems are very powerful indeed ...
very well done!!!
I adore the opening line!
Oh, well... What is a Goddess, without a man? What is a God, without a woman? I mean the Greek ones. They really couldn't resist.
Hello my friend. I have a confession to make here. I try and keep up with my spam messages and I had 9 in the file. I look them over to see if I recognize a name and didn't. The minute I hit delete all spam, I saw your name and thought I know that name and it was too late to save the comment. I'm truly sorry but thank you for coming by my playground. I love the poem :)
Sweet Dulce,(Goddess)~ I have to go with everything Steve said...He really went deep with his interpretation of your lovely poem.
...Gotta love that! :)...Gotta love that Steve too!
much love to you~

Wow! You know a lot of mythology and work it so well into a beautiful poem.
I like this poem, especially Aphrodite dancing to the waves.
