A Retreat Of The Self

There is a time
In one’s life
When you need
To retire
From lies and shows
No need to hide
Or display
Or exhibit

It’s not depression
Or oppression
Nor desperation
-Thank God
Just a call
To retire
From fights and glows

No need to ride
On the impossible horse
Or care about the worst
There is a time
In one’s life
For everything.

This is my time
To slip away
Let myself go
To this inner pleasure
No pressure
No measure
Where it's me
For me.

I am learning there has to be a time for oneself. We ( I) need to take out time just for us> do what we wish , enjoy the ones granted to oneself.. SmILES

I venture that the women reading this will have that internal understanding of what you are really saying, Sweet Dulce.

The impossible horse is NOT a merry-go-round carousel. Is it rather that dream unfulfilled.

And..."Where it's me For me." WOW!!! Just GO, girl, capture what is your very own, and will never belong to anyone else.

A call to retire: PEACE!

The time of your life is upon you, surrounding you, the final knowing of truth, and LOVE.

(Either I am so good with your poetry, or, being a man, am wayyyyy off base!)

Either way, Love and Peace!

Very nice. Sometimes one does need to be away. Just for ones self, by ones self.

Beautifully written. The hard part is deciding when that time is :) but when you do it's great and we hold on to that until we need to retire there again :)

I agree. The problem is finding that time is not always easy.

You're right! I needed a time like that too... But oh, how do I get it?

Re-energize and regenerate, Dulce. Remember, a writer is working when she is just staring out the window!

This sounds very self discovery like. It is a great work.

This is a poem worth reading for anyone who longs for that freedom of the soul. To be free in your spirit is the greatest feeling of all. Loved this one!

Dulce- this was so easy and dismissive, like an exhale from a too cool smoke. Like you brushed us off with a simple wisdom that we need. ~rick

I recognize this place, this time in life... it's exactly where I am too! Beautifully articulated.
