Bug’s Nightmare

To most

A bear is just a bear

But to Ladybug

It is another of beasts

So many

Her greed she has come to feed

When this monster

All of a sudden appears

Tearing her peace

Above leaves.

In horror she senses

The whole Earth trembling

She’s terrified

Doesn’t know

Where to fly.

Instead of going away

On his back she ends up

And the dense thick coat

Becomes an endless road

Nightmare of confusion!

Manages to jump out

Onto a thick stem

Can’t realize how

If she is dead or alive

Her heart beats

At a dizzy speed

She looks up at the sky

Can hardly breathe

Another beast

With huge wings

Menaces to near…

Frogs,

Bees, wasps,

Grasshoppers and dragonflies

All enemies

With no swords

To against fight.

She wonders will it be

Always like this

She’s only just arrived

In this world of surprise

Misery mystery

Tonight she won’t sleep

Nightmares about monsters and beasts

Will be her one company

And she cries…

A spot she’s lost in the plight.

And are we humans only bugs in the universe too? I think maybe ...
You've given us this fine perspective.

this does sound like life...like the vulnerable who are fair play to predators...like my life..

Oh so true...Our nightmares have been beautified within this poem...

Dulce- I often think of life from a bug's point of view and how small or large his world seems. Though I think man is probably his only nightmare. This was fun and you write so well. ~rick

Mi bella amiga, una vez mas, un poema maravilloso. Perdon por mi ausencia, pero estas fechas me han colapsado.
Que este nuevo año sea si cabe mejor y mas dulce.
Mil besitos!!!

Very creative concept - I think this type of concept could be expanded into a series of works. It could even be an entire book of works.

Great idea!

It's lovely to go over into nature with you Dulce!
Although it is a struggle for the ladybug.

Dulce, pls excuse my comment deletion. After reading your poem again--and on consultation with my "poetry advisers"--I decided, instead of commenting here, to spend the time writing my own blog post which has been neglected for too many hours now.

I must say your post here is most enjoyable reading, and the Ladybug was one of my favorite creatures.

My first love (me, age 5, she 8) had a Lady Bug as our "secret pet". We fed our "secret pet" everything on the farm...except air. Yes, we did have a funeral with tears, and kisses, and whatever one might call LOVE at that age.

Thank you for the precious memory.
Love ya. Does "THIS MAN" like Lady Bugs also?--grin! (reference to yesterday's post.)

this is a very paranoic lifestyle . i wonder if we , in our evolution , have passed this fase alread ....

What a beautiful peek into the perspective of a tiny little creature. Imagine that! You did it so well, my dear Dulce. But then, I do think this little bug is so much more than just a tiny little insect. Maybe I see a little of her in myself? Maybe we all see a little of her in us? Beautiful writing, Dulce. Lovely expression...

How hard must a bug's life be! You know, when I had my first son, someone told me the same story - how huge and scary the world may seem to a small child. Gave me a sense of the responsibility... A matter to think about. Besos!

Something different and I like it. It makes you step back and see the world in a different way.
Well done.

such is our own flight from time to time.

you do well to remind us that perspective is all that separates us from bear and bug

I love little ladybugs and I like to think they lead an idyllic life. I hope they don't have such a horror! But I suppose all life must endure terror at times.

This is an incredible poem, Dulce.
