Those Simple Things

The smile in his face
Any smile
And of course mine
The touch of my body
Every morning I wake up
When I realize
I am still alive

My child’s laughter
His hug
His face while he sleeps
My house tidy
When clean and tidy
But also
The untidiness he brings

My lover’s dream
Which is mine
And all he gives
And I give to him
And of course
That cup of coffee
Better with a cig!

I have just completed The Simple Things Challenge. It’s a celebration of all the simple pleasures in life with the added BONUS of helping those who are now struggling in Haiti. For every list, poem or prose piece on this subject, Enchanted Oak and her family will donate $2 to Heartline Ministries’ medical clinic and program in Haiti. Interested? Visit Enchanted Oak and be prepared to post before midnight Sunday (PST). It’s simple!

That is so touching. I love your other blogs. I checked them all out and am following them all. Have a wonderful Sunday. I got the whole day to myself because the hubby is playing SuperBowl with his friends. We don't do sports, but Super Bowl is more like a party to him. LOL It's Dolly time for me. woo woo

Hooray for you, Dulce! This was a wonderful little celebration of some mighty huge blessings. Thank you for being part of my day and my benefit for Heartline in Haiti. I love the things you mention. I'm amazed at how many people really cherish that cup of coffee. Such a small, wonderful thing....

Great way to do the simple things. I haven't smoked in over 20 years and I would still love to have one.

Madame Dulce,

Your simple things are lovely, just as you are...but, nurse that I am, I wish you'd have your coffee without a cigarette. I can be a nagging 65-year-old and I hope you'll love me anyway.

Gosh, Dulce, do you still smoke? Oh well, someone has to do the dirty work for the economy--grin!

Only a mother could write like you about your son...and your start of the day. Simple, a coffee, a smoke, some time with your boy, and...it's off to work we go.....

Great big hug, Friend!

Your work is so well done, it constantly makes me ask myself why I could never appreciate any poetry in high school. Maybe it was the distraction of the boys...
Now I know how to handle them, and I can enjoy the literature.

everything seems like a finger snap with you; words, life, lighting a cigarette. Damn, Girl, I think that's how it's supposed to be. I haven't got the leaks fixed or the charts yet but I'm workin on it. ~rick
