Misunderstanding*

I get you wrong
And you get me wrong too

I look tired ‘cause I am
And you think I am tired of your love
I think I’ve been deprived of your love
And you think I am a fool

I think I am a fool
And you admire me
For the things I do

I go to sleep
And when I wake up
You are not there
But I know you were

When we didn’t say a word
And we misunderstood...

*AND this has come up especially because yesterday I felt obliged to explain certain misunderstanding ...(lol)...

How does the "prayer" go?

Maybe something like this?:

..."not so much to be understood--but rather to understand."

I know that's not right, but....

How come with all of our words and the charm we make out of them we still can be soo misunderstood? And how can we misunderstand almost everything?

Very nice :)

Dulce,

I can't stop laughing about the misunderstanding but isn't that the beauty of poetry. One can peel several layers and still make sense out of it. Smiles.

Now for today's poem: This gain can be interpreted in several layers. Not misunderstood just a wee communication gap!

Joy always,
Susan

and please forgive my tardiness in coming by - my days of late have found the weird bug i had returning with a vengeance plus my having two little ones every day and several nights a week - i am more than remiss with my visiting you and so many others! please do forgive! ;)

Yes, I know. The absence of dialogue, even if momentaneous, can drive to such misunderstandings. But love can overcome it all!

love your play of words in here and how you made us re-read your last poem to see the connection. Well, I've experienced this "lost in translation" thing with many of my posts, and though I always want to, I never really say what the thing actually meant. the most common think that happens is people thinking a certain piece is personal while it's pure fiction, and sometimes, like what happened here with you, they don't get the meaning I intended. In my opinion, art is open to many interpretations and when someone sees/reads it, it becomes a reflection of him rather than the artist. i prefer to see it like this: they saw something in my writings that I failed to see.

A deep meaningful poem with simple words. Beautiful in form and the imagery is just awesome.

Write on and love on!

Moving tender, poignant, oh how we are all guilty of not understanding the real underlying thoughts and feelings of each other, being too wrapped up in our own thoughts.

It seems all too easy to misunderstand! Would that we were better able to communicate, especially in terms of our needs.

This reminded me my past relation. We had the same things and unfortunately the same kind of misunderstandings and the result he left me alone.. :(
