Apprehension

Such bright green eyes

So mischievious

So sad

Despite wrinkles

Tears and smiles

What a look

What keeps you in power

And yet

You little girl...

Don’t you fret

All that courage all that strength

And they see and they say…

Do not fret.

She lives in agony

Even though

She’s got not the disease yet

But how serious it is

And how much it hurts

For if others did

Why not she?

She cries out in pain

A mixture of betrayal

to herself

And all that pain

All over the place

Rather in the soul

But she knows

It’ll manifest

Sooner or later

Into what the others

Already gone

Experienced before

Do not fret- they say

Deaf ears

She can only get

As far as that fatal end

But she is also a good girl

At times she does not fret...

A beautiful piece and I love the repetition of "Do not fret." As always some very strong poetry, so write on!

Wise, wise words, Dulce. It was as if you were speaking to the self, to the past, to the innate essence of humanity. A beautiful and enduring poem.

P.S. I love the new look! :)

This as with your writing is fierce in it's sentiment and achingly beautiful in it's choice of sentiment and as always love love love it.

Dulce, as you well know, sickness and pain are a real part of life. How wonderful it is to become healed!

So, do not fret!

And we--everyone, without exception--will not live forever as earthly creatures.

So fret not!

And after that "fatal end" comes the real life, the true life, the one intended from our beginning.

"Each microbe and bacillus has a different way to kill us
And in time they all will claim us for their own."

from....
--"Some little bug will find you, Someday."

Apprehension is one of the most bitter of human emotions. It is destructive, painful, and agonizing. But it is universal... we all go through it. Maybe that is one thing to remember when we go through that feeling of questioning ourselves... and everything around us... and wondering what it is we should do.

Your lovely words, Dulce, are never apprehensive.

Hugs,
Nevine

The look indeed keeps you in power, but then there's the interior you have to deal with...that apprehension. Prima, you write from the soul. Siempre me impresionas.

Have yourself a merry little week, niñita linda. :)

I've often wondered where they got the expression "don't fret" - the only frets I know are the ones on a guitar bridge.

Very strong words, I feel the pain and agony, but I also feel peace. It's as if she at peace in her spirit hence the words "does not fret" I love this piece. Good Read!

What sad words for a hopeless situation. It reminds me of a book called RACE AGAINST TIME by... who? (I forget. A Canadian diplomat. It doesn't matter.) IN any case, it was about the AIDS crisis in Africa. So desperately hopeless with forced philosophical reasoning. We cannot choose, therefore, we cannot fret. But alas, we do... for ourselves and others.

Lovely, compelling writing.

This made me sad.
I love words that touch me, that make me feel even if that feeling is sadness. Thank you
