Tired eyes encounter
Cauliflower clouds
A brightness sparkling
The idea
Leading to the white flowers
Those waves
As they break
This still winter,
Peaceful backwater
Cold beach
Sated with stillness
And flushness
As I breathe this eternal
Agony
For being alive
And at the sea
Gaze
Less tired now
My arms filled
With this awakening
The encounter…
Grief for Death
and the dead
And a fear
Of the beyond
Of the farthest
No-
Of the nearest.

You know, Dulce, an old man should not be reading this stuff--but it is so beautiful.
Is winter just ending in the Canaries? Or maybe you are somewhere else. Never mind, none of my business, right? -grin!
Anyway...PEACE!
I love how it ends. A poem of excitement and fear from far away and suddenly, it is just beside you. very nice. ~rick
The Awakening... what does it mean to you?
Love your poetry... I will be following.

Sometimes we just need something special to wake up because when we are not aware, anything can happen.
Thank you for your nice comments, everyone.
Dear Steve,
It’s not winter in the Canaries. As far as I know, its summer everywhere above the Equator.
This poem I wrote originally in Spanish in 1997. Yesterday I translated it into English… HARD WORK! Never again… And as a translation it’s never exactly the same as in its original language… well -but it seems you’ve captured the idea… That’s great.
'sated with stillness' now that i love!
My goodness...there is beauty in your words...along with so many emotions. Love how it ends.
Dear Sue,
“What does awakening mean to yme?”
I think it’s a bit paradoxical. For it’s clear She is not happy, but afraid… Afraid of realizing what is near is not beautiful any more- so she wakes up from the dream of the young and starts seeing life as adults do (?)

Thank you so much for your words...

I came up to 'sated' in my dictionary and said: 'This will do', funny you like it...
Thank you
oh my... sounds like you're writing about me (awakening). But even though I'm awake, I feel practically comotose.

That's the Winter of the heart. I hope Spring comes soon. The bond with the sea is marvellous.
Interesting and thought provoking.
Is that your art work?
It is lovely and moving...
